Our Mission
Each active-duty military suicide is a tragedy — for the individual, for the surviving family and friends, for the military, and for the nation as a whole. We believe that suicide among active-duty service members is preventable, and that each one represents the culmination of a series of missteps and missed opportunities within the military chain of command. Our mission is to advocate for the promotion, adoption, and effective implementation of evidence-based suicide prevention strategies by each branch of our United States Armed Services, to bring public awareness to and elicit support for this cause, and to offer comfort to the families and friends of service members who lost their lives to suicide.
Our Vision
Grieving Grandmothers of Military Suicide envisions a time when every member of our armed forces, regardless of rank or position, is treated with dignity, respect, care, and appreciation.
Not just for Grandmothers — We Support Everyone Impacted by Military Suicide.
While the name “Grieving Grandmothers of Military Suicide” honors the group’s origins, this organization is open to all individuals impacted by military suicide. Whether you’re a parent, sibling, spouse, child, friend, or another loved one, our community offers a welcoming, supportive space for anyone seeking understanding and healing.
